Victorian Puzzle Purse

Between 2 and 4 hours

This workshop explores the history and craftsmanship of the Victorian Puzzle Purse, a decorative folded paper token popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Participants will examine its cultural significance as a keepsake and communication tool before creating their own puzzle purses using historical designs or personalized elements. The session combines historical insight with hands-on artistic practice, incorporating writing, illustration, and paper-folding techniques. No prior experience is required.

Motanki by Anna Rabbit

Motanki (Slavic Folk dolls)

Between 2 and 3 hours

This workshop invites participants to create their own traditional Slavic Motanki dolls using fabric scraps and hand techniques, without needles or stitching. Rooted in folk traditions, Motanki are symbolic objects connected to care, protection, and storytelling, created through wrapping, tying, and intention rather than precise construction.

In a time of overproduction and fast consumption, making a Motanka by hand becomes an act of slowing down, working with what already exists, and reconnecting with collective, often overlooked forms of knowledge. The process emphasizes intuition, repetition, and attention to material rather than perfection or uniformity.

Creating a Motanka is not about making a decorative object, but about engaging in a ritual of making — choosing materials, forming a figure, and giving it meaning through gesture and presence. Participants will learn the basic principles of Motanki making, explore different forms and variations, and create a doll that reflects their own relationship to tradition, memory, and care.

This workshop is open to everyone interested in folk practices, textile arts, and hands-on making. No sewing experience is needed.

Hand-Sewing with Textile Scraps Workshop

Between 3 and 4 hours

Rooted in a deep, multigenerational tradition, this workshop explores the art of hand-sewing with salvaged fabric scraps. Inspired by family practices—particularly from Anna’s Jewish heritage—this approach reflects a history of resourcefulness, where even the smallest pieces of fabric were preserved, repaired, and repurposed. Growing up in the post-war Soviet Union, her grandmother lived with a constant sense of scarcity, where nothing could be wasted. Collecting and saving materials became a survival instinct, shaped by the uncertainty of the times.

Inheriting this practice, Anna has become a guardian of forgotten textiles, seeing them not only as remnants of the past but as opportunities for transformation. This workshop is an exploration of sustainability, conscious creation, and the emotional connection we have with materials. Through hand-sewing techniques, participants will learn how to repurpose discarded fabrics into meaningful, lasting pieces—bridging past and present while embracing slow fashion and mindful craftsmanship. More than just a sewing session, this is a space for healing, creativity, and reimagining what is often overlooked as waste. No prior experience is required.

Teddy Bear from Scraps: Sashiko Soft Sculpture Workshop

8 hours (2 sessions + homework)

In this workshop, we will create unique soft toys using the Japanese sashiko stitching technique and textile scraps collected from worn-out clothes, old linens, and other beloved fabrics. Inspired by the idea of zero waste and emotional storytelling through craft, each participant will hand-stitch their own teddy bear—imperfect, expressive, and one-of-a-kind. No sewing experience is needed.

Handmade Sketchbook Binding Workshop

Between 3 and 4 hours

This workshop invites participants to create their own sketchbooks from scratch, exploring traditional bookbinding techniques with a hands-on approach. In an era of mass production, making a sketchbook by hand is an act of reclaiming craftsmanship, individuality, and connection to the materials we use daily.

Binding a sketchbook is more than just assembling pages—it is about creating a personal space for creativity, reflection, and artistic exploration. Participants will learn fundamental bookbinding methods, experiment with different papers and covers, and discover how to craft a durable, functional, and unique sketchbook suited to their artistic needs.

This workshop is perfect for artists, writers, and anyone interested in book arts or DIY craftsmanship. No prior experience is required.

Art Books & Sketchbooks as an Independent Art Form

Between 2 and 4 hours

Art books and sketchbooks are more than just collections of images or preliminary drawings—they are independent art forms that blend storytelling, visual experimentation, and personal expression. Unlike traditional exhibitions or framed works, these books offer an intimate, tactile experience, allowing the viewer to engage with the artist’s process, thoughts, and evolving ideas.

Artists use sketchbooks as spaces for exploration, where mistakes and improvisation become part of the final piece. Similarly, art books challenge conventional publishing formats, often incorporating handmade elements, unconventional materials, or nonlinear narratives. From limited-edition zines to intricately bound artist books, this form of artistic expression blurs the line between literature and visual art, making it a unique and deeply personal medium.

Art Dolls from Textile Scraps: Creative Soft Sculpture Workshop

8 hours (2 sessions + homework)

In this workshop, participants will design and handcraft their own expressive textile art dolls using fabric scraps, threads, and found materials. This is an invitation to explore storytelling through form, texture, and detail—each doll becoming a small, personal sculpture. No templates, no limits—just imagination, improvisation, and play. Whether whimsical, abstract, or deeply symbolic, your doll will be a reflection of your inner world. No previous sewing experience is required—just curiosity and a love for making.

Found Poetry & Collage Workshop

2-3 hours

This workshop invites participants to create short poetic texts through collage, using found words and fragments from books, magazines, and printed materials. By cutting, rearranging, and recombining existing language, participants explore how meaning can be reshaped, disrupted, and reimagined.

Working with found text is both playful and reflective — it shifts authorship, embraces chance, and allows new narratives to emerge from what already exists. The process encourages intuition over correctness and discovery over control.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in poetry, visual language, and experimental writing. No prior experience is required.
